Prohibited Content and Deals
This policy explains which deals can't be made on HotInfluencer, with examples. It adds detail to section 7 of our Terms of Service. Some limits come from the law, and some from Stripe, our payment processor, whose restricted businesses rules apply to every deal.
1. Deals we don't allow
Fake engagement. Buying or selling followers, likes, views, comments, saves, reviews, ratings or any other engagement, and deals meant to manipulate a platform. For example: "1,000 followers", "50 five-star reviews", joining engagement pods for pay, or posting fake testimonials.
Adult content. Sexual or sexually suggestive content, adult services, and content that sexualises anyone.
Gambling and betting. Casinos, sports betting, lotteries, sweepstakes you pay to enter, and games where real money or prizes with cash value are won by chance.
Weapons. Firearms, ammunition, firearm parts and accessories, explosives, and weapons designed to injure.
Drugs and tobacco. Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, cannabis and CBD where they're unlawful, prescription medicines, tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping products.
Crypto and financial products. Cryptocurrencies, tokens, NFTs, trading and investment schemes, loans, credit repair, and "get rich" or "passive income" programmes.
Misleading advertising. Sponsored content that isn't disclosed as an ad, invented results or testimonials, and health, beauty or financial claims that can't be backed up. For example: "cures acne in 3 days", "lose 10 kg without dieting".
Fake or circular deals. Deals between a Brand and an Influencer who are the same person or company, or acting together to move money rather than to buy content. Using HotInfluencer to pay for something other than content, or to pay outside the deal, also counts.
Harmful content. Harassment, hate, threats, violent extremism, content that exploits or endangers minors, and content that encourages self-harm or dangerous challenges.
Anything illegal where the Brand or the Influencer is, or where the content will be shown, including intellectual property you don't have the right to use.
2. Allowed with care
These are allowed, as long as the content follows the law and the platform's rules where it's shown:
- Alcohol. Only for audiences of legal drinking age, with no content aimed at minors and no encouragement of excessive drinking.
- Supplements, skincare and wellness. No claims to diagnose, treat or cure a disease, and no results you can't back up.
- Contests and giveaways. Free to enter, with clear rules, and run by the Brand under the platform's promotion rules.
- Apps and games. No real-money gambling mechanics.
3. Disclosure
Every sponsored post must be clearly labelled as an ad in the way the law and the platform require, for example with the platform's paid-partnership label or "#ad" at the start of the caption. The Influencer is responsible for labelling the content. The Brand must not ask them not to.
4. Who you can deal with
Both sides must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Deals can't involve anyone on a government sanctions list or in a country under comprehensive sanctions.
5. What we do about it
We may check deals before or after payment. If we reasonably believe a deal breaks this policy, we may refuse it, freeze it, cancel it, or refund the Brand, and we may suspend the accounts involved. Where the law or Stripe, our payment processor, requires us to hold or report funds, we will.
If you see a deal or content that breaks this policy, tell us at support@hotinfluencer.com.
